Use fertilisers will be formulated designed for acid loving plants. Once established azaleas and rhodos need only feeding after flowering (April /May the actual planet Northern hemisphere; November on the inside Southern). Don't apply fertilisers that are general Garden fertilisers.
There are a variety of varieties of lettuce various planting and growing standards. I prefer leaf, cos, and butterhead lettuce because I can plant them anytime was initially invented by spring. But I've planted lettuce plants in the shade of other plants with my Vegetable garden and planted late in summer time to get good fresh lettuce in the fall.

They attack by running at you, leaping rising with a good quality flapping of wings, and hitting you with their feet. The attacks can be noisy and frightening, but they are harmless to adults. Kids can be hurt.
Another choice, of course is to surround one section in your house with a strong 8 foot fence, and keep all those tender and choice plants inside it. Leave the rest wild, with existing shrubs and grasses for the deer to browse along. After all, the deer were there first, and in case you can learn to co-exist these people by planting appropriate plants and protecting others, it's a win-win situation.
